Position Overview

LaunchTech is seeking an Intermediate Cloud Engineer to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract.

In this role, you will engineer, manage, and support cloud infrastructure solutions while integrating cloud environments with enterprise IT systems. You will help design standardized, secure, and scalable services that enable mission systems to operate across cloud and hybrid infrastructure environments while ensuring reliability, performance, and operational readiness.


What You’ll Be Doing

The Intermediate Cloud Engineer will:

  • Engineer, manage, and support cloud infrastructure platforms and services

  • Support cloud infrastructure components including compute, networking, and storage

  • Work with application workloads within Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services environments

  • Integrate cloud infrastructure and networking environments with existing enterprise data center and corporate infrastructure

  • Use Cameo or other Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools to analyze requirements and support system design using industry modeling languages such as UML, SysML, AUTOSAR, DoDAF, MODAF, and UPDM

  • Validate functionality early in development and automate the delivery of structured engineering products

  • Prototype, simulate, and execute design concepts for early validation of cloud architectures

  • Design standardized and reusable services that enable development and mission customers to meet requirements for speed, resiliency, performance, repeatability, and security

  • Engineer, implement, and continuously improve reusable services delivered by the cloud services team

  • Develop and maintain templates, images, and reusable artifacts that allow customers to consume standardized services

  • Ensure all services and artifacts remain available, secure, and continuously improved throughout their lifecycle

  • Address service issues impacting development and mission customers

  • Support operational requests and communicate level of effort, task progress, and service status to cloud leadership teams


What You Bring

Basic Requirements

  • Must have 12 or more years of general (full-time) work experience

    • Experience may be reduced with completion of advanced education

  • Must have 6 or more years of directly related experience in cloud or on-premise infrastructure engineering and support

  • Must have 1 or more years of experience in a management or leadership role

  • Must have a current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE)

  • Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance

Desired Requirements

  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) platforms such as AWS, Azure, SoftLayer, or OpenStack

  • Experience with Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) environments

  • Understanding of Mission Landing Zones (MLZ)

  • Experience with Cross Domain Solutions (CDS)

  • Experience with configuration management and automation tools

  • Familiarity with source control platforms such as GitHub or Bitbucket

  • Basic understanding of containerization and container orchestration platforms including Docker, rkt, Mesos, or Kubernetes

  • Experience managing enterprise compute, networking, and storage platforms

  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools such as Cameo

  • Experience managing enterprise application platforms including application runtimes, integration middleware, and relational databases

  • Possession of a current IASE Level II certification
