LaunchTech is seeking an Operations Technical Lead to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. This role serves as a hands-on technical leader responsible for overseeing IT Operations and Sustainment activities within a hybrid, high-performance computing (HPC) DoD Secret enclave. The Operations Technical Lead will drive operational excellence, mentor teams, manage incidents and change activity, and ensure continuous improvement in a highly secure and evolving mission environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

Operations Leadership & Technical Oversight

  • Lead IT Operations and Sustainment activities supporting a hybrid, HPC DoD Secret enclave

  • Actively manage change requests, incidents, and work orders in an operations center environment

  • Provide leadership and capacity management for a team of 8–12 personnel

  • Integrate operations activities with Cyber, Customer Experience, and Architecture & Engineering teams

Hands-On Technical Execution

  • Perform system administration and network engineering tasks as needed to support the team and resolve critical issues

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex operational issues through direct technical engagement

  • Support patching and software update activities across systems and environments

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement

  • Drive productivity through proactive issue resolution and process improvement initiatives

  • Track and manage KPIs to measure operational performance and effectiveness

  • Proactively mitigate vulnerabilities and support continuous modernization efforts in a secure environment

What You Bring

Basic Requirements:

  • Must have 10, or more, years of directly related experience working as a network engineer or system administrator actively closing tickets through troubleshooting and creative problem solving

  • Must have 5, or more, years of leadership experience in an operations center setting, actively managing change requests, incidents, and work orders (preferably in a hybrid HPC environment)

  • Must be willing and able to perform hands-on system administration or network engineering tasks when required

  • Must have strong experience in both system administration and network engineering

  • Must have experience with patching and software updates

  • Must be proficient with IT systems including networks, operating systems, cloud platforms (such as AWS), and IT service management tools

  • Must be familiar with Active Directory, including account management

  • Must have demonstrated experience leading teams of 8–12 personnel, tracking work, and managing capacity

  • Must have strong initiative, productivity, and problem-solving skills

  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Must have experience with process improvement and KPI tracking

  • Must have, or obtain within 6 months of hire, a current DoD 8570.01 IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE or equivalent)

  • Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance

Desired Requirements:

  • Have a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field

  • Have cloud certifications (AWS or Azure)

  • Have networking certifications (CCNA/CCNP, Network+)

  • Have virtualization certifications (VMware VCP/VCAP)

  • Have ITIL certifications

  • Have experience with VMware, VCF, and ESXi

  • Have experience supporting Modeling and Simulation environments

  • Be familiar with PKI authentication and information security practices

  • Have experience with DISA-mandated security tools (ACAS, HBSS)

  • Have experience with metrics-based IT Operations & Maintenance teams

  • Be familiar with Remedy, SNMP, and monitoring tools such as SolarWinds or SCOM

  • Have experience working within ITIL-based operational processes
