We are seeking a visionary Enterprise IT Chief Architect to lead the strategic design and implementation of enterprise IT architecture supporting national defense missions. This executive role will shape the technological foundation of next-generation network infrastructure and digital services, driving the evolution of IT network architectures to support digital advancements, cloud-native solutions, and customer-centric platforms.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supervising and mentoring a team of architects and engineers, fostering innovation and ensuring alignment with DoD’s mission-driven culture.

  • Developing and maintaining enterprise architecture frameworks to support mission-critical systems, including command and control, cybersecurity, and cloud-based platforms.

  • Designing and implementing an enterprise architecture framework that supports scalable cloud-native solutions, AI-driven platforms, and microservices architectures.

  • Collaborating with senior DoD leadership, military stakeholders, and inter-agency partners to align IT architectures with national security objectives.

  • Evaluating and integrating emerging technologies (e.g., AI/ML, zero-trust architecture, quantum-resistant cryptography) to maintain technological superiority.

  • Establishing governance frameworks to ensure compliance with federal regulations (e.g., NIST 800-53, FISMA) and DoD cybersecurity standards.

  • Developing and maintaining the enterprise architecture framework, including technology roadmaps, standards, and governance processes to guide IT investments and initiatives.

  • Overseeing the evaluation, selection, and integration of emerging technologies, ensuring they align with industry trends and best practices.

  • Leading architecture reviews, audits, and optimization efforts to maintain a resilient and future-proof IT infrastructure.

  • Leading ITSM initiatives (ITIL-based) to optimize service delivery, including incident management, change management, and service continuity for high-availability systems.

  • Communicating complex architectural strategies to non-technical stakeholders, including senior military officials, interagency partners, and external contractors.

What You Bring

Basic Requirements:

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree, or higher, in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field

  • Must have 16, or more, years of general (full-time) experience

    • May be reduced with completion of advanced education

  • Must have 10, or more, years of progressive experience in IT

  • Must have 5, or more, years in a Chief Architect or equivalent senior leadership role within a large-scale enterprise environment

  • Must have broad technical expertise across multiple domains, including cloud computing (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), cybersecurity, data analytics, AI/ML, DevOps, and enterprise software systems

  • Must have experience designing architectures for large-scale enterprise systems, including cloud migrations and digital transformation projects

  • Must have an in-depth understanding of IT service management (ITSM) frameworks

  • Must have an in-depth understanding of ITIL framework and best practices, including incident management, problem management, change management, and service release management

  • Must have experience leading and mentoring technical teams

  • Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance

Desired Requirements:

  • Have broad technical knowledge across cloud platforms, cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST, zero-trust), data interoperability, emerging technologies (e.g., AI/ML, quantum-resistant systems), and industry trends (e.g., hybrid cloud, DevSecOps)

  • Have Project Management experience

  • Have an ITIL Strategic Leader certification

  • PMP (Project Management Professional)
